Top 10 Boots of The Summer

Made up your mind on which boots you'll be wearing to kick off your season? We've hand picked ten of the hottest new boots released this summer to help you decide on your new wheels for when the action gets underway.

It's been a busy summer of boot releases, we've seen brand new silos, old school colourways, bright paint jobs and new innovation giving players a bigger choice than ever when it comes to selecting their footwear. Each player has different taste and requirements so we've pulled together a list of the boots that have most impressed us over the last couple of months. Roll on the football season...

Without doubt, one of the most crowd pleasing boots of the year, the black/whiteMercurial was exactly what the doctor ordered for a lot of players. A famous boot wrapped up in a traditional colourway, it's easy to see why this boot will be so popular. If you're after a light boot in a stealth disguise then look no further.

The HyperVenom in our opinion has to be boot of the summer, the launch in Rio, the player uptake, the deadly campaign, the HyperVenom has been impossible to ignore. A brand new silo from Nike aimed at attacking players, the HyperVenom offers a second skin/closest to barefoot feel as possible using their new NikeSkin and has been built to the requirements of Neymar and Higuain. For strikers looking for an alternative to the Mercurial, this is your best bet.

If you're after a boot that's going to stand out on pitch then the new signature Messi f50will tick that box. A unique design for the world's greatest player on one of the world's lightest football boots. We get that the design may be a bit too much for some players but for Messi fans it's the opportunity to wear the same boot complete with the player's signature logo on your boots.

Another of Nike's most talked about boots this summer. The design of the Premier was focused fully on creating a retro looking boot made of the highest quality leather for optimal comfort. Released in firm ground only the Premier could be the ideal choice for hard pitches during the first couple of months of the season.

Predator SL releases are always a bit special, all the lethal zone technology on the face of a super lightweight shell. The Predator SL is for players who want a lightweight feel of an f50 with the control technology of the famous Pred. The splashes of paint on the lethal zones on the black backdrop create a top blend of modern and traditional characteristics.

The new PUMA PowerCat will take some getting used to visually, with get that, but it's a pretty awesome piece of art. PUMA are renown for their crazy graphic designs and the latest chapter is as impressive as ever. Underneath that eccentric exterior is a boot that delivers top comfort, touch and aids shooting accuracy. It'll be a brave move to make the plunge but you'll reap the benefits of a quality piece of kit.

The Nitrocharge was launched towards the end of last season and has gone on to be released in three colour drops. It's this forest colourway we've got eyes on, the boot is designed for box-to-box midfielders or as adidas put it – the team's 'engine'. We've alreadyplay tested the Nitrocharge with top results and although it's aimed at midfielders it's a boot that has been worn all over the pitch by the likes of Alves, Martinez and Phil Jagielka.

Mizuno launched the third generation of the Wave Ignitus this summer, a boot designed for ultimate dead ball striking. The Ignitus is once again packed with shooting weaponry and is worn by Keisuke Honda. If you're on free kick duties this season then the Ignitus is up there with the Pred when it comes to smashing in dipping long rangers.

When it comes to designing new innovations Lotto are fearless. The brand already boast the world's only laceless boot and this summer saw them unveil another first – a reflective football boot. The Solista changes colour when you look at it from different angles under lights. All very pretty, yes, but it's also one of the softest boot we've felt this season. Want to stray away from the mainstream brands? The Solista is a serious contender.

As with complete blackout boots, the demand for whiteout boots is exceptionally high and adidas have delivered a slick f50 with a simplistic design. A fast looking paint job on adidas' lightest football boot, this is a boot built for players looking to reach their maximum speed. The f50 is associated with wingers and strikers with the likes of Arjen Robben, Gareth Bale and Robin Van Persie all expected lace up a pair next season.
